10 Reasons To Sail With Carnival Cruise Lines
Wednesday, January 31, 2018

Carnival has done an exceptional job of positioning itself in the cruise industry as the "fun" cruise line. It started back with Kathie Lee Gifford coining the phrase "the Fun Ships of Carnival."

1. Fun
It is hard to define what "fun" is, but you feel it as soon as you step on board any Carnival ship. No matter what time of day or night, there is a party atmosphere that is infectious. It's your vacation, dammit, and Carnival is going to see to it that you have a good time!

2. Value

A quick glance at the website reveals 7-night Caribbean cruises as low as $409*/pp. Where else on Earth can you vacation with accommodations, meals, and entertainment, for less than $60 per day/per person? If you throw in the Cheers Beverage Program, you are still under $120 per day/per person! You will have a hard time finding a better vacation value.

3. Innovative ships

Cruise ships have advanced far beyond swimming pools and midnight buffets (do they even have those anymore?). There is a race in the cruise industry to see who can add the weirdest, or coolest, activity to a ship. The SkyRide on Carnival Vista is just one example of how Carnival is innovating. It is a recumbent bicycle hanging 15 stories above the ocean that you pedal around a monorail course. Who comes up with this stuff?!

4. Comfortable accommodations

While Carnival probably won't win any awards for stateroom decor, a close inspection reveals a very well-thought-out design that is efficient, compact, and comfortable. Beds are comfy, linens are better than you would expect for a value cruise line, and there's plenty of storage for all your clothes and gear. The large sofa in our Balcony Stateroom on Carnival Vista makes a great place for extra storage of backpacks, camera gear, etc. and still have room to seat two!

5. Alternate dining options

Most Carnival ships offer multiple dining choices, in addition to the traditional cruise ship dining. Some of these options carry a small cover charge ($15-$35/pp), and every one we have tried was well worth the extra cost. We were impressed with the quality, preparation and presentation of the food at JiJi's Asian Kitchen, Cucina del Capitano and Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse on our most recent Carnival Vista cruise.

A modestly-priced á la carte menu at Bonsai Sushi (available on seven Carnival ships) delivers some of the best sushi you will find anywhere, on land or sea. And, Guy's Burger Joint still serves the absolutely best hamburger available on any cruise line, period.

6. Your Time Dining

Carnival still offers guests traditional cruise ship dining with assigned seating (Early or Late). However, you can also choose the Your Time Dining option for maximum flexibility. We prefer to dine at a table for two, so Your Time Dining is perfect for us.

7. Entertainment

Carnival's entertainment is legendary in the cruise industry. Lavish production shows are presented throughout the cruise. If you enjoy listening to music while sipping your favorite beverage, Carnival has the absolute best lounge entertainers in the business. During the day, the cruise staff is busy conducting countless games, contests and demonstrations designed to keep guests entertained.

8. Punchliner Comedy Club

In our opinion, one of the best features of any Carnival Cruise is the Punchliner Comedy Club. Some of the best headliner comedians in the business perform nightly. There are multiple shows per day and several comedians performed throughout the cruise. You can literally see a different show every night!

9. Cheers Beverage Program

If you enjoy imbibing while on vacation, Carnival's Cheers Beverage Program is one of the most generous in the industry. For a mere $49.95 per day/per person (when prepaid prior to sailing), you can enjoy up to 15 alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks per day.

10. Youth and Teen Programs

If you travel with your kids and want them to have their own activities, you are in luck. Carnival has a staff focused on keeping the little dudes and dudettes busy with a variety of fun games and activities. There are entire sections of most Carnival ships just for kids to hang out, play games and make new friends. And, Carnival WaterWorks (water park) will no doubt be one of the most popular places your kids will want to get wet.

When it comes to cruising, nobody delivers more fun than Carnival. And certainly, no other cruise line offers this much value. Comfortable accommodations, top-shelf entertainment, best-in-class dining and a great price. Maybe that's why Carnival is so successful!
