Bill & Jan, Appreciate your interest in Holland America. It is impossible for us to review every cruise line every year. There are just too many lines and ships. However, I will reach out to HAL and see if we can get something going for 2013.

Jan, if you click on the Cruise Reviews tab at the top of this page you will see the last review CruiseReport did was back in 2010. Definitely overdue for an update.

Does CruiseReport have any HAL reviews within the last few months? I love the in-depth, detailed reviews you post. Those are getting harder and harder to find on the Inte.

Have noted that HAL dining room staf ( Westerdam, Alaska) is not as well trained as previously, kitchen ranization delays dishes getting to tables. Maitre'd in Main dining room( main, late seating) said he has repeatedly complained to chef, but delays continue.

@JIMRB, I am sorry about your experience on Maasdam. We have never had anything but excellent service on Holland America. As for the lady whose husband passed away, no doubt that is a tragedy. That is why it is SO important for people to purchase trip insurance that covers such instances.

We just got off a 2 week cruise on the Masdam. We got the room from hell . Right under the kitchen, likely the bakery as it was very noisy all night long. And this was support to be an upgrade. Front office and CSM did nothing when we complained . 3 cabins on the 6 th floor have the problem but they will not tell you about it in advance. Food was good, service was poor. Entertainment with 2 exceptions was very weak. Many of the experienced cruisers were saying it was the worst they had seen. One poor lady had booked and paid a year in advance and her husband died. The refund she was offered was less than the single occupant surcharge so she ended up paying full fare for her dead husband. Hard to believe they would do that .

niew amsterdam western carribean cruise felt like it was a training ship to new employees. too many kids and not being watches by thier parents. :best meals were at the main buffet lido .main dining room wida and david were wonderfull ,manhatten dining room too long of service felt like we were being not up to standards of what i thought holland am should be . embarkation is notanized for european passengers arriving back at fort lauderdale.

Mixed reviews of this ship....bright red dining room with very low ceilings is off-putting. Centrum lobby is lame and practically non-existent. Lido lounges crowded and with no trays impossible to get your food to your table. Entertainment very spotty. Tours , transfers, and Inte over the top prices. Dine when you can dining slow. Loved the new Kitchen at Sea demos. Have cruised 25 times and overall would choose another ship.
