Movartis Limousine Service - Rome
Friday, March 24, 2017

Editors' Choice Award WinnerAfter disembarking Crystal Serenity in Civitavecchia, Italy, we needed to get from the port city into Rome. One option was to purchase the ship's transfer to the center of town ($125 per person). However, we would still need to purchase a taxi ride (at an additional cost) from the drop-off point to our hotel. A better (and much less expensive) option was to arrange for a private car transfer from the port directly to our hotel. We found Movartis Limousine Service online and, after exchanging emails, we scheduled to have a driver meet us at the port outside of Customs.

As soon as we exited the port terminal, we found Andre with Movartis Limousine Service holding a sign with our names on it, exactly as we had arranged.

Our driver, Andre, was waiting for us outside the terminal

Andre grabbed our large bags and led the way to his shiny new Mercedes sedan. The vehicle was spotlessly clean and even had complimentary bottled water waiting for us. After Andre loaded our luggage in the trunk, we were off to Rome!

A crowded bus, or a private Mercedes?

The drive to Rome takes about an hour in good traffic and can take as long as two hours if traffic is heavy. Today is Sunday and traffic is light, so we actually pull up in front of our hotel, Palazzo Manfredi, in a little less than one hour. If you sail into Civitavecchia and require an airport or hotel transfer, the only way to go is with a private car. You can arrange this in advance using the Internet/email. We highly recommend Movartis and we will definitely use them again on our return visits to Rome/Civitavecchia. Movartis offers rates from as low as 20€ per person (for a group of 8 sharing a mini-van).

We also arranged for Movartis to have a car pick us up the following morning at our hotel and transfer us to Fiumicino International Airport for our flight back to the USA. The driver arrived at the hotel early and was there waiting for us when we emerged from the hotel. Sure, we could have had the hotel call a taxi for us and save a few dollars, but you will be surprised at how little extra it costs to take a luxury car transfer. In our opinion, it is well worth the cost.
