SeaDream Caviar and Champagne Splash
Monday, October 15, 2012
As if being on a luxury yacht in the Caribbean isn't decadent enough? After being pampered for nearly a week with sumptuous dining, free-flowing cocktails and over-the-top personal service, what is a more fitting grand finale than being served caviar and champagne while standing waist deep in the surf of a private island? I can't think of anything. The process is simple enough. A surfboard is loaded with a tin of caviar and all the "fixins" and two bowls of ice to keep the bottles of bubbly cold. The surfboard is floated out to waist-deep water where the SeaDream flag has already been planted in the sand, at 12 noon the yacht (a few hundred yards away) blows the ship's whistle and the party, as they say, is "on".

As SeaDream guests line up in the calm, warm waters of the Caribbean in front of the surfboard, Hotel Manager, Peter, begins scooping out the fishy gold onto blinis and and handing them out as fast as he can make them. Meanwhile, SeaDream waiters begin popping corks, spraying everyone with champagne and doing flips from the beach into the surf, bottles in hand, to refill any glasses that might have been emptied to wash down the caviar.

The pandemonium soon calms as everyone begins to get their fill. Rickee tries this year to avoid the crowd at the surfboard by relaxing on a nearby lounger. Peter, knowing how much Rickee loves caviar, personally delivers a special-made plate of the dark master to her. It's the kind of pampering and service that SeaDream Yacht Club regulars have become accustomed to. It's what keeps them coming back to this "best kept secret" of the cruise industry time and time again.

As if the caviar and champagne was not enough, it only serves to mark the beginning of an elaborate beach BBQ put on by the ship's galley. Picnic tables set with linen and real silver flatware are soon hosting plates filled with burgers, ribs, chicken, hot dogs, prime beef loin and every imaginable accompaniment.

A SeaDream Yacht Club experience in the Caribbean is one you will not soon forget. The Champagne and Caviar Splash is one of those "not to be missed" opportunities that every cruise enthusiast must experience to fully appreciate.

I have had the opportunity to experience the Champagne & Caviar Splash. You are correct in saying one must experience it to appreciate. It is a one of a kind experience & was a real highlight! Great, great memories of our cruise, the staff & the entire concept. The bar has been set very high by Sea Dream.
